Starkville aldermen will consider formally issuing intent to raise citizens’ ad valorem taxes by 2.78 mils during the board’s recess meeting at 5:30 p.m. today at City Hall.

Supervisors hear funding requests

Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors heard presentations from the Mississippi Horse Park and the American Red Cross for continued support at Monday evening’s recess meeting at the courthouse.

The meeting began with Bricklee Miller, facility manager at the horse park, providing the supervisors with information on the horse park’s local impact.

Hood discusses Web's law enforcement challenges

Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood is in the midst of moving his office from Jackson to his hometown of Houston.

Hood said he believed the move would not affect his job. His job still took him all over the state, he said, and new technology made it possible for him to conduct much of his business remotely.
