Businesses prepare to deal with new open carry law, Many locations say they will welcome weapons

While the Mississippi Supreme Court debates overturning an injunction against Mississippi’s open carry law or letting it stand, Starkville businesses are determining how best to approach the new law.

House Bill 2 — the open carry law — requires businesses post signs that expressly forbid open carry if they don’t want customers to carry weapons on the premises.

The new Starkville Board of Aldermen made its first major change in city government Monday evening when it moved to to dismiss Chief Administrative Officer Lynn Spruill from the ranks of city employment.
