Starkville School District adopted a budget for the 2013-14 school year at a Tuesday evening board of education meeting.
The budget was unchanged from the one presented at a budget hearing a week prior to the meeting. The budget will allow the district $45.6 million in expenditures and $46.48 million in revenue.

The United States Supreme Court on Monday struck down a provision of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
The Court, in a 5-4 ruling, threw out Section 4 of the act, which used a formula to designate what parts of the country had to have changes made to their voting laws cleared by the federal government. Section 5 of the VRA gave the federal government the ability to approve or deny any changes.
