Starkville Planning and Zoning Board on Tuesday reviewed and approved a preliminary plat to allow Mississippi State University to move forward with the next step of The Mill project, a large-scale hotel conference center development project located along Russell Street at the Cooley Building. Included in plans for the propertyâ€™s development are a 110-room hotel and city-owned parking garage.
Talk of potentially leasing the OCH Regional Medical Center has resurfaced.
However, the Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors doesnâ€™t seem any closer to proceeding with an analysis of the hospitalâ€™s finances than they did when the issue came up in 2012. A financial analysis is required by state law before the county can take any further steps toward leasing or selling the facility.
The city of Starkville is looking for a number of people who are willing to serve. Precisely, as of now, that number is 16.
The Starkville School District Board of Trustees approved a $9.95 million bond over 10 years for facility maintenance projects and discussed options for scaling that bond back if needed at a later date.
The bond will be funded through a 3-mil property tax increase.
