Supes won’t move forward on new bonds for roadwork

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors has rejected — for now — a resolution of intent to issue up to $6 million of roadwork bonds.

The resolution was introduced to the board after supervisors approved moving ahead with refunding a hospital improvement bond that would save the county more than $1 million.

Alderman to propose committee to review pair of ordinances

Starkville Ward 4 Alderman Jason Walker looks to jumpstart a planned ordinance review process during the Board of Aldermen’s regular meeting today at City Hall.

Walker plans to introduce a motion to create an Ordinance Review Committee centered on reviewing the city’s sidewalk and landscaping ordinances. Aldermen will convene at 5:30 p.m.

Exchange student finds home away from home

Special election set for Tuesday

Tuesday is election day in the race for Oktibbeha County prosecutor and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The three-person race in the special election are Haley Brown, Brace Knox and Matthew Wilson, all of whom are vying to replace longtime county prosecutor Roy Carpenter who retired in June.
