During a near three-hour executive session that ended just after noon Thursday, Starkvilleâ€™s Board of Alderman issued an ultimatum to the municipal court clerk â€” resign or be fired.
The official motion, which passed with a 6-0 vote, gave Debra Wood until 5 p.m. today to resign or the city would effectively terminate her employment.
Leading up to Thursday nightâ€™s Mississippi State football game, the 2013 Citywide Tailgate was in full force throughout downtown Starkville and other nearby locations.
Thirteen businesses participated in the first citywide tailgate in three years with the theme â€śBulldog Styleâ€ť from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. After the three-year hiatus, many businesses pulled out all the stops for the event.
Unity Parkâ€™s long-awaited opening is facing another delay.
The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors had scheduled to open the park on Saturday, but the opening will not go forward as planned.
District 3 Supervisor Marvell Howard said the board needed more time to properly plan the event.
