Community leaders met Wednesday at OCH Regional Medical Center to discuss the importance of collaboration as a means of improving economic development in Starkville through improving the cityâ€™s quality of life.

Starkville residents will have the chance to discover their cityâ€™s roots as the 175th Birthday Committee hosts â€śA Mayhew Mission Picnicâ€ť Friday.
Participants are asked to meet at the Starkville Public Library at 5:30 p.m. to begin carpooling to the site of the Mayhew Mission, and are encouraged to bring chairs and a picnic dinner.
The Mississippi Board of Education has voted to ask Gov.
JACKSON, MISS â€” The Mississippi Board of Education (MBE) determined that an extreme emergency situation exists in the Oktibbeha County School District. Acting on a recommendation from the Mississippi Commission on School Accreditation, the MBE voted unanimously to ask Gov. Phil Bryant to declare a state of emergency for the school district.
