The Friends of the Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum are swinging open the saloon doors for a western-themed fundraiser.
On Friday, Aug. 17, the Shrine Club will open its doors at 7 p.m. for âDenim and Diamonds,â an evening of food, entertainment and community in support of the Hertiage Museum for $35 per ticket.

Starkville Reads will hold a discussion and presentation on Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathaiâs memoir âUnbowed,â hosted by Dr. Michael Kardos.
The event will be held Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Starkville Public Library where Kardos will discuss from his perspective as an English professor.

Oktibbeha County Road Manager Victor Collins will update the board of supervisors Monday on the progress his crews have made this year with road improvements.
Projects being completed this year are part of a four-year, $10.08 million comprehensive plan to restore and build more than 66 miles of road.
