MSU to face Northwestern in Jan. 1 Gator Bowl

Coach Dan Mullen believed that success could be accomplished in Starkville when he took over the Mississippi State football program.

For only the second time in school history, the Bulldogs are going to three consecutive bowl games.

Gunnoe crowned Mrs. Mississippi America

Mississippi State University student Sagen Gunnoe was crowned the 2013 Mrs. Mississippi America on Nov. 11 at the Millennium Theater inside the Goldstrike Casino Resort in Tunica.

Gunnoe, a second-year veterinary student at MSU, came to Starkville in 2007 with her husband Lacy to pursue her dream of working with animals.

County schools to discuss policies, codes, discipline

The Oktibbeha County School District’s leadership will discuss school district codes, policies, discipline and other items at the district’s regular monthly meeting at noon Tuesday in the district’s offices.

JACKSON — Current and former Mississippi lawmakers, across party lines, are mourning the death of longtime Democratic Sen. Bennie Turner of West Point, who died Nov. 27. He was 64.

Maben man charged with stabbing pregnant woman

A Maben man is in custody at Oktibbeha County Jail after officials say he allegedly stabbed a pregnant family member of his girlfriend multiple times Sunday morning.

John Jones, 30, of 110 Sanders Trailer Park Road, is in custody after he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Holiday concert set for Tuesday

County could OK planning contract

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors will review an estimated $30,000 to $35,000 comprehensive planning contract from an Oxford-based urban development firm at its 9 a.m. Monday meeting at the county courthouse.
