Resident accuses SPD of unfair treatment

The Starkville Board of Aldermen heard allegations of misconduct on city police officers’ part at its meeting Tuesday and passed a resolution to task chief administrative officer Lynn Spruill with coordinating an investigation of these allegations and reporting on the matter at the board’s Jan. 15 meeting.

Paromita Mitra is on a mission to represent not only her state, but also educated women across the nation as she focuses on the Miss USA 2013 competition as the newly crowned Miss Mississippi USA.

Mitra, 21, is a senior at Mississippi State University studying aerospace engineering with a minor in mathematics.

Pizza robbery suspect arrested in Aberdeen

A man wanted in connection with three armed robberies of local pizza deliverers was arrested Tuesday, Starkville Police Department officials said.

Carlo Shepherd, 28, of 20493 Old Houston Road, Aberdeen, was arrested in Aberdeen with the help of the city’s police department and charged with three counts of aggravated assault.
