WASHINGTON (AP) â The top leaders in both parties on the House and Senate Agriculture committees have agreed to a one-year extension of the 2008 farm bill that expired in October, a move that could head off a possible doubling of milk prices next month.

Reported West Nile Virus cases in Mississippi broke record numbers in 2012.
As of Dec. 11, 249 human cases of the mosquito-borne illness were reported in the state, compared to 52 instances in 2011. Deaths due to the illness, however, remained equal to the previous yearâs total of five.
