MSU fundraising initiative tops goal

Mississippi State University announced Oct. 19 that its StatePride fundraising initiative has exceeded its $100 million goal two months ahead of schedule.

StatePride: An Initiative for Student and Faculty Support began in 2009 when MSU President Mark Keenum was inaugurated, and as of mid-October, the initiative has garnered more than $104 million.

Graffiti suspect faces 18 malicious mischief counts

A male who Starkville Police Department officials believes is behind the “Owens” graffiti that has sporadically appeared in the city over the past several months confessed to authorities Wednesday and was charged with 18 counts of misdemeanor malicious mischief, SPD Detective Scottie Carrithers confirmed Thursday.

Supes say county vicious dog code may need tweaks

Two supervisors say the most recently passed version of the county’s vicious dog ordinance may need to be tweaked in light of a recent incident in which a teenager was allegedly surrounded in an aggressive manner and knocked to the ground by a pack of pit bull terriers.
