Governing boards approve economic deal

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors and Starkville Board of Aldermen unanimously approved a three-year contract Wednesday to enter a cooperative regional development entity consisting of Clay and Lowndes counties.

Starkville Police Department authorities arrested and charged Christopher Lee Steed, 35, with arson after he allegedly set fire to a mobile home in The Pines Manufactured Home Community on 1000 Louisville St., Apt. No. 30, on Oct. 24.

Ambassador from Kenya visits MSU

Student Association, SPD prepare for Bulldog Bash

Thousands of residents and visitors will head to the Cotton District Friday as the Mississippi State University Student Association prepares for the 2012 Bulldog Bash for the Texas A&M game weekend.

SA President Shelby Balius said activities for Bulldog Bash will begin 3 p.m. Friday with the annual FanFare followed by the Dawg Rally at 5:15 p.m.

Man confesses to burning trailer in The Pines

Starkville Police Department authorities have arrested and charged Christopher Lee Steed, 35, with arson after he allegedly set fire to a mobile home in The Pines Manufactured Home Community on 1000 Louisville St., Apt. No. 30 Oct. 24.
Steed, whose home address is 40051 Valley Chapel Road in Hamilton, was the owner of the structure but did not live there, according to an SPD release.

County and state school officials confirmed Tuesday that the athletics programs at both West and East Oktibbeha County high schools are now ineligible for out-of-conference play, including playoffs, because of the school district’s recent accreditation withdrawal.
