BRANDON â€“ The Starkville Yellowjackets advanced a pair of doubles pairing in tennis for the Class 6A individuals state championship match on Wednesday.
Emily Turner, Hannah Laird, Will Irvin and Richard Hill all moved on with their play at the Class 6A, Region 3 Individual Tournament at Northwest Rankin.
Toxophilite is taking over several students at Starkville High School this year.
When it comes to having a love for archery, which is the meaning of toxophilite, the Yellowjackets have found another way to be competitive within the athletic department and have fun at the same time.
They have participated in four meets in their first-ever season and have performed well.

Members of the Mississippi State soccer program are happy to be kicking off the activities of Super Bulldog Weekend tonight.
Even though the weekend on a calendar starts on Friday, the Bulldogs are included on the SBW schedule of events with an exhibition match against the University of Alabama. Action at the MSU Soccer Complex is set to begin at 7 p.m.
