MSU sells record in season tickets

Mississippi State football has seen record sales in season tickets since coach Dan Mullen took over the program in 2009.
MSU hit a new high on Friday.
The MSU athletic department announced that it has set a new record for season ticket sales with 44,230 being sold to date. That beats the old mark of 44,212 in 2012.

Jacob Lindgren may not have to wait a couple of seasons to make it to the big league team.
The Mississippi State junior left hander was drafted 55th overall by the New York Yankees during Thursday's First-Year Player Draft.

Jacob Lindgren will have a Mississippi State teammate with him as he works his way through the New York Yankee organization.
Bulldog closer Jonathan Holder was drafted by the Yankees in the sixth round, 182 overall, in Friday's First-Year Player Draft.

A quartet of Starkville High School senior athletes have one more game under their shoes.
Taking place today and including Imane Montgomery, Dontavious Self, Richard Evans and Zeb Rice among its rosters, the Northeast Mississippi Basketball Coaches Association All-Star game will tip in Booneville.
Lady Jacket Montgomery will join her fellow all-stars for a game scheduled to start around 4 p.m.

County prepares for runoff election

Mississippians will head to the polls again on June 24 to vote in a statewide Republican U.S. Senate primary runoff between incumbent U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran and challenger Mississippi Sen. Chris McDaniel.

Local Chamber sponsoring trip to Tuscany next spring

The Greater Starkville Development Partnership (GSDP) has recently added a new member to the organization that will offer local business owners a chance to enhance their services by traveling abroad.

As part of a new partnership between GDSP and Chamber Discoveries, Starkville’s Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a trip to the Tuscany region of Italy set for March 10-18, 2015.
