Firsts continue for Bulldogs: MSU reaches highest ranking ever in AP at No. 3

It was a Saturday of firsts for the entire state of Mississippi – college football wise.
Both Mississippi State and Ole Miss beat top 10 teams on the same day for the first time ever. College GameDay was in Oxford for the first time.

Each day Mississippi State's women's soccer team takes the field, it is as though it is engaged in a "battle."
No matter what has happened prior to the match, it all comes down to that moment and making the most of each minute played.

State competes to end in loss to No. 9 Florida

Mary Wise, the head coach of the ninth-ranked Florida Gators, came away from Sunday's match at Mississippi State with a tremendous amount of respect for the Bulldogs.
Even though her Gators took a 3-0 victory over MSU, Wise was impressed with the way the Bulldogs went about their game plan and didn't make many mistakes.

Prentiss Wayne Bolin, Sr. passed away on Friday October 3, 2014 at Noxubee General Hospital in Macon, Ms. at the age of 75. Services are on Monday October 6 at 2:00 pm at Brooksville Baptist Church in Brooksville, Ms. with Rev. Jay Spiller and Rev. Payton Myers presiding. Burial will follow at Brooksville Cemetery. Visitation is from 12:00 to 1:30 pm at Brooksville Baptist.

Dak Prescott accounted for 336 yards of total offense and five touchdowns, as No. 12 Mississippi State upended No. 6 Texas A&M 48-31 Saturday afternoon in the first matchup of top 15 squads at Davis Wade Stadium since 1986.

THE OFFENSE: Backup players perform for MSU without starters

Mississippi State's offense was without two of its staters.
It didn't really matter though as the No. 6 Bulldogs registered their sixth straight 500-yard performance in a 48-31 win over No. 12 Texas A&M Saturday. 
Starting center Dillon Day was suspended, and the Bulldogs best wide receiver Jameon Lewis was sidelined with a right leg injury.

THE DEFENSE: Brown's three picks for Bulldogs contributes to opportunistic unit

The Mississippi State Bulldogs were know in the late 1990s under head coach Jackie Sherrill and defensive coordinator Joe Lee Dunn for having an opportunistic defense.
As the Bulldogs progress through the 2014 season, it appears the defensive unit is getting back to that.
MSU has forced 26 turnovers in its last 10 games dating back to last season under coordinator Geoff Collins.

Former Jacket gets first MSU start

Former Starkville High School quarterback and defensive back Gabe Myles made his first start for the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday.
Myles got the nod in the place of an injured Jameon Lewis and the Bulldogs defeated the Texas A&M Aggies 48-31.
"The next guy just stepped right in with a Gabe Myles," MSU head coach Dan Mullen said.
