Bulldogs' schedule intriguing

The Mississippi State Bulldogs will enter year three of the coach Rick Ray era with a better non-conference schedule than in the past.
For the Southeastern Conference portion of the schedule, it promises to be intriguing.
The SEC released conference basketball games on Friday via the new SEC Network.

Eupora hosts Classic event to start season

City issues boil order for Greenbrier

The city of Starkville has issued a precautionary boil water alert for the Greenbrier Subdivision, effective until at least Monday.
A city spokesperson said the action was necessary because the system lost pressure due to a damaged water line.

City may ban pets from cemeteries - Alderman planning to propose law change at Tuesday meeting

Even if all dogs go to heaven, one Starkville alderman would prefer they stay out of local cemeteries.

Ward 5 Alderman Scott Maynard is proposing a change to Starkville’s code of ordinances that would ban people from bringing dogs or other domesticated animals to at least city owned cemeteries — if not all cemeteries in the city limits.

SHS prepares to host first Glow Run event

On Saturday, the Starkville High School Junior Varsity and Armstrong Middle School cheerleaders will host their first Glow Run fundraiser at the campus of Starkville High School.

Glow Race Chairman Katie Ruth said proceeds from the fundraiser will go to support the squads as they support and represent the schools at athletic events and cheer competitions.

Dr. Samuel K. Riffell, 44, passed away on August 11, 2014 in Starkville, MS.   Dr. Riffell was an Associate Professor in the College of Forest Resources at Mississippi State University.

Patsy was the beloved mother, wife, and friend to many. She died at Oktibbeha County Hospital at age 76. Patsy was born in Chunky, MS, the daughter of Ellis and Christel McGee. She graduated from Hickory High School in Hickory, MS and East Central Jr. College of Decatur, MS.

Change behind the mic: Williams to assist Ellis with Bulldog basketball broadcasts

Richard Williams will be back inside Mississippi State's Humphrey Coliseum this season, but in a different capacity.
The former Mississippi State coach will join Jim Ellis for the MSU radio broadcast of men's basketball games, the university announced Thursday. He will be the color analyst and replaces Bart Gregory who will be a part of the new SEC Network.
