Eupora rallies for 10-8 win

EUPORA – Eupora High School pitcher Trey Pittman didn't let a little bit of adversity keep him down Monday night.
The very first Baldwyn Bearcat batter of the game in Tucker Jenkins hit a home run off Pittman.
In most cases, that kind of start could have knocked a pitcher completely off their game, but not Pittman.

East Webster blanks Mantachie, advances

MANTACHIE – Chase Keller had a pair of hits to lead the East Webster Wolverines to a 4-0 victory over Mantachie on the road Monday in the Class 2A playoffs.
Keller singled in the fifth and seventh innings.
East Webster's Brock Flemmings kept Mantachie off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the mound. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out three.

Bulldogs top Vols with Walker's eye

Mississippi State catcher Cody Walker entered in the second inning for his defensive ability.
It was his eye at the plate offensively that won the Bulldogs a game.
The junior took ball four with the bases loaded in the 12th inning on Sunday to force home a run and gave the Bulldogs a 4-3 walk-off win against Tennessee to take the series on a sunny Mother's Day afternoon.

MSU's bullpen keeps Tennessee scoreless

The objective most weekends for baseball teams are to get into the bullpen of its opponent.
That was not the case for the Tennessee Volunteers when it came to playing the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
MSU relief pitchers worked 20 1/3 scoreless innings in the three-game series against Tennessee and took two wins during the stretch.

The Mississippi State softball program is off to one of its best starts in school history this year.
MSU found out Sunday night the season has been extended a little bit farther.
The Bulldogs (38-19) will be traveling to Lafayette, La., where they will face Texas (33-21) in the opening round of NCAA regional competition.

Mississippi State head coach John Cohen kept believing Saturday night that his Bulldogs were going to come through at the plate and push a game-winning run across.
The Bulldogs got the leadoff batter on in the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings, but couldn't get a run across.

Throughout the season, the Mississippi State Bulldogs have had a very difficult time generating any type of offense.
The Bulldogs finished up the Auburn series one week ago with a 12-1 victory where they got 19 hits and looked like things were definitely on an upswing.

Kate Mattox, Henderson, Ross claim top in state

PEARL – The Starkville High School Yellowjackets were able to bring home four individual Class 6A State championships after their performance at the state meet on Saturday.
Leading the way was freshman Kate Mattox, who won two events. She finished first in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:06.04, then also captured the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:09.22.
