Bulldogs hit the field: Cooler than normal weather greets MSU players for practice

The Mississippi State Bulldogs opened fall camp on a cool Mississippi summer afternoon Thursday.
It wasn't the usual hot summer afternoon that most are used to, but MSU head coach Dan Mullen wore a long-sleeve pullover.
He was happy with how the first day went.

Starkville Academy blanks Bayou 8-0 in soccer

Starkville Academy soccer coach Cole Andrews asked his players to do one thing before their game Thursday.
Coming off a "tough" loss to Lamar Academy, the coach urged the Lady Volunteers to put it all behind them as they prepared to face Bayou Academy in game two. 

Starkville 10 All-Stars enjoy experience of playing Hawaii

The Starkville 10-year-old All-Stars knew that the Dizzy Dean World Series was going to be competitive.
It also became an educational experience.
During their time in Southaven, Starkville's 10-year-old All-Stars were able to play against the team from Hilo, Hawaii.

Mississippi 16th Circuit Judge Lee Howard sentenced 53-year-old Archie Quinn to life in prison without parole after an Oktibbeha County Circuit Court jury convicted Quinn of capital murder Wednesday afternoon.

Police arrest suspect in assault case

A Crawford man is in Oktibbeha County Jail after allegedly assaulting someone Tuesday in Starkville.

Starkville Police Department officers responded at 9:47 p.m. to a report that the suspect had stabbed a male victim and fled on foot, according to an SPD press release. The suspect was identified as 44-year-old Akeem Adbullah Rasheed, whose last known address is 104 Farmers Market in Crawford.

College football is less than 30 days away.
The season starts in late August, but many teams and programs around the country start practice in the next couple of days.
Mississippi State reported to camp on Wednesday and practice starts today. The Bulldogs open the season Aug. 30 at home against in-state foe Southern Mississippi.

Many fans are excited about the upcoming college football season, especially Mississippi State fans.
