Visitation will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at West Memorial Funeral Home, Starkville, Mississippi.

Tyrell Deshoun Gillespie died Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in Starkville, Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Pine Grove M.B. Church with Minister Robert Chandler, officiating.

Visitation will be held 12:00-6:00 P.M., Friday, June 20, 2014 at West Memorial Funeral Home, Starkville, Mississippi. 

Burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery.

Longhorns use squeeze to get victory

Longhorns coach Keith Lawrence knew that Ethan Roberts could get a bunt down in a key situation.
It's because Lawrence has witnessed it before.
Roberts put down a squeeze bunt with the bases loaded in the fourth inning that scored Shemar Crawford and the Longhorns defeated the MuckDawgs 4-3 at the United States Sports Specialty Association 11-year-old State Tournament in Class AAA.

Swing holds on to edge SR 5-4

Luke Altmyer showed on Thursday that he could help the Swing with his defense and offense.
After throwing out a Southern Rock runner at the plate to end an inning, Altmyer had a pair of triples with one driving in a run as the Swing held on for a 5-4 victory at the United States Sports Specialty Association 11-year-old State Tournament in Class AAA.

Teams get break from the weather

Teams participating at the United States Sports Specialty Association 11 State Tournament on Thursday got a break with the weather in the afternoon.
A brief shower around the noon hour and lingering cloud cover with a breeze made the conditions pleasant at the Starkville Sportsplex.

Assistant softball coach Mullins takes job at Troy

Mississippi State softball coach Vann Stuedeman will have to fill a void on her coaching staff this offseason.
Bulldog assistant coach Beth Mullins was selected as the new head coach for the Troy softball program earlier this week. She spent three seasons with the Bulldogs.
She becomes the second head coach for the Troy Trojans.

Industrial park plan unveiled

Starkville may be known for many things, but manufacturing is not one of them.

However, that all may be about to change.

At its June luncheon meeting on Wednesday, the Golden Triangle Development LINK outlined plans for a new industrial park in Starkville.
