Starkville Academy sees tough schedule

The Starkville Academy Volunteers do not expect it to be easy this fall when they take the football field each Friday night.
Coach Jeff Terrill knows it's going to take a tremendous effort for his Vols to deal with such a schedule.
Starkville Academy intends to meet that challenge when it kicks off the 2014 football campaign by welcoming Division II State champion Lamar to town on August 22.

MSU's McBride has momentum going to NCAAs

Brandon McBride's career at Mississippi State has seen many more ups than downs.
The junior distance runner has been at the top of his game most every time it has counted. He won the national championship in the 800-meter run during March's NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. He posted a time of 1:48.17.
McBride entered that event as the No. 4 seed, but didn't let that bother him.
