Johnson leads Eagles

June 7, 2014

Rusty Johnson batted leadoff for the Eupora Eagles this past season, but he did much more than lead them at the plate.
With his strong presence both on and off the field, the soon to be senior proved to be one of the true weapons for the Eagles and earned himself the title of Starkville Daily News High School Baseball Area Player of the Year.

Vision for Mitchell at Eupora rewarded

Brad Mitchell had the Eupora Eagles playing for a state championship in just two years as the coach.
Getting the team to that point in a short amount of time has earned Mitchell the title of Starkville Daily News High School Area Coach of the Year.

Former Jacket Bartlett taken by the Indians

Former Starkville High School standout Max Bartlett was drafted in the 36th round and 1,088th overall by the Cleveland Indians during Saturday's First-Year Player Draft.
Bartlett just finished his freshman season at Gulf Coast Community College in Florida. He played for the Yellowjackets through the 2013 season.

MSU's Woodruff, Pirtle drafted on third day

Mississippi State had a pair of players drafted during Saturday's First-Year Player Draft.
Junior right hander Brandon Woodruff was taken in the 11th round, 326th overall, by the Milwaukee Brewers, while senior second baseman Brett Pirtle was drafted with the 700th overall pick, 23rd round, by the Detroit Tigers.

MSU sells record in season tickets

Mississippi State football has seen record sales in season tickets since coach Dan Mullen took over the program in 2009.
MSU hit a new high on Friday.
