Former Bulldog Jackson signs with the Raiders

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) — The Oakland Raiders have their entire draft class under contract after signing a deal with third-round pick guard Gabe Jackson.
Jackson became the eighth draftee to sign when he finalized his deal Thursday. Jackson was taken 81st overall out of Mississippi State and is expected to compete for a starting job.

Lindgren taken 55th overall by Yankees

Mississippi State junior left hander Jacob Lindgren was taken 55th overall by the New York Yankees in Thursday's First-Year Player Draft.
The Bay St. Louis native was moved to the bullpen this season where he was a dominant force and recorded 100 strike outs in 55 1/3 innings pitched.
The junior is expected to take the money and not return to Starkville for his senior season.

County man dies in Tupelo - Local law enforcement investigate reported assault

An Oktibbeha County man is dead after succumbing to injuries sustained Sunday morning in an alleged aggravated assault.

Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt said 55-year-old Alfonso Blair died late Tuesday afternoon.
