MSU waits for postseason fate after loss

Mississippi State will have to await its postseason fate after being bounced from the Southeastern Conference Championship earlier than expected.
The No. 17 Bulldogs (18-10) lost to No. 55 LSU 4-2 in Nashville, Tenn., on Thursday. 
MSU now has to wait until the NCAA announces the bracket for the 2014 tournament, which will come April 29. Regional play will start on May 9. 

Kemp reviews electric dept. budget, goals

Starkville Electric Department General Manager Terry Kemp talked about short- and long-term goals for the future with the city Audit and Budget Committee Thursday evening.

The committee consisted of three aldermen — Chairman Scott Maynard of Ward 5, Vice Mayor Roy A. Perkins of Ward 6 and Lisa Wynn of Ward 2.

‘Mrs. Lamar’ charged with grand larceny

Nita Sue McKinley Buckelew, 72, passed away on April 17, 2014 at Starkville Manor in Starkville, MS.  She was retired from 4-County EPA, where she had worked for 29 years.  She was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church in Starkville, Rebekah Lodge, and she was secretary/treasurer for 20 years with Professional Arborist Association of Mississippi (PAAM).

Ruth (Ruthlyn) Moody, 85, of Titusville, Florida, died on April 10, 2014, of cancer.
She was born Ruth Evelyn Austin on January 24, 1929, in New Orleans, LA, to the late Oliver V. Austin and the late Ruth Libby Sharbrough Austin.

Mizzou special to Cohen: Bulldog coach was on Tiger staff from 1992-97

Missouri will always hold a special place in Mississippi State head baseball coach John Cohen's heart.
He was a graduate assistant with the Tiger baseball team from 1992-94, then was boosted to an assistant coach from 1995-97.
