Offensive burst helps State win over Arkansas in softball

Two swings of the bat gave Mississippi State the momentum it needed on Saturday.
Even though they might have been just a couple of the 17 hits for the Bulldogs, but grand slams from Sam Lenahan and Mackenzie Toler were certainly highlights of an 18-7 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The seven Mississippi State seniors will be honored today for the contributions they made to the softball program.
On Saturday, those players showed how valuable they can be.
Several seniors had a part in the 18-7 victory by the Bulldogs over the Arkansas Razorbacks at the MSU Softball Stadium.

Bulldogs don't climb out of hole, lose 6-4

The Mississippi State Bulldogs kept putting themselves in a hole on Saturday afternoon, and when the dust settled, that hole was too big to climb out of.
The No. 20 Bulldogs dropped a 6-4 decision to Texas A&M to lose the weekend series to the Aggies.
"We just got off to a horrendous start," MSU head coach John Cohen said. "We were just a step slow in everything we did."

The Mississippi State Bulldogs started off the day on a positive note, but when it ended, the Bulldogs were on the opposite end of the spectrum.
The No. 20 Bulldogs came back from Thursday night's suspended game to beat Texas A&M 5-1 Friday afternoon, but lost the nightcap 6-3 to the Aggies.

That's the case for former East Oktibbeha County High School girls basketball player April Sykes.
Sykes has spent the last several months in rehabilitation and training from a broken bone in her left tibia and is now ready to begin the next chapter in her Women's National Basketball Association career.

The Starkville Academy Volunteers enjoyed a 2-1 lead for three innings of the first game against Magnolia Heights School Friday afternoon.
When Hunter Peeples had delivered a two-run single to score Billy McGee and John McReynolds, it gave the Vols an advantage to feel good about.

Choctaw County sees season come to an end

ACKERMAN – One big inning was the difference maker on Friday.
Franklin County benefitted from that as it claimed a 6-0 victory over the Choctaw County Chargers.

POTTS CAMP – The Eupora Eagles softball team shut the door early on Potts Camp, capturing a 19-0 victory on Friday.
