Services for Edward G. Havard, Sr., 94, of Natchez, who died Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Magnolia House, will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ralph Webber and the Rev. Dillon Wickliffe officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Making a splash: MSU softball captures weekend series from No. 2 Bama

People often jump for joy, but Mississippi State’s softball team took that expression to a whole new level on Sunday.
After defeating No. 2 Alabama 4-3 to claim a Southeastern Conference series win on Super Bulldog Weekend, the Bulldogs made good on a bet made earlier in the season with assistant coach Beth Mullins.
It involved a little matter of jumping in Chadwick Lake.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs seized the momentum in the three-game series with in-state rival Ole Miss with a walk-off win on Saturday.
They didn't carry that momentum into Sunday though.

State breaks attendance mark for three-game set

Mississippi State broke another baseball attendance record on Sunday afternoon.
After setting the all-time single game mark for an on-campus game when 15,586 came to watch Saturday's 6-5 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels, the Bulldogs set the mark for a three-game series when 10,371 more saw the Rebels win 12-2 at Dudy Noble Field.

James A. (Bubber) Turner, 88, passed away on April 8, 2014 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville, MS.  He was retired Chief Deputy Sheriff with the Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department and a member of Adaton Methodist Church.  He was Owner of Texaco Service Station on University Drive, member of VFW and American Legion, driver for Greyhound Buses, and Owner of Turner Bus Company.
