Mississippi State senior outfielder Jessica Offutt has taken the advice of the softball coaching staff and it is beginning to pay off.
In the last two games for the Bulldogs, Offutt has gone 5-of-7 at the plate for a batting average of .714. She has six hits in the last 10 at-bats over a three-game stretch to bat .600.

Charles Reed Morgan, 71, passed away on April 9, 2014 at his residence in Sturgis, MS. He was founder and owner of Triangle Drywall and member of Morgan Chapel Baptist Church.Â He was a very dedicated family man.

Warren Anthony Bourgeois, Jr., 50, passed away on April 10, 2014 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS.Â He was an Automotive Designer with B&B Trim Shop and was an avid car enthusiast. He was Salutatorian of the 1981 graduating class of Chalmette High School in Chalmette, La.
An early Wednesday morning basement fire has, for now, closed down Campus Book Mart.
East Oktibbeha County Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire at 2:22 a.m., according to Chief Greg Ball. Bell Schoolhouse Fire Company and Starkville Fire Department provided assistance on the call.
