Games show different culture

Living in a college town, Starkville residents get many opportunities to experience cultures outside their own.
In a couple weeks, a new heritage will come to the Starkville Sportsplex in the form of the Central Mississippi Scottish Heritage Games on March 29-30.

Mississippi State stays positive after UK series

The Mississippi State Bulldogs believe progress has been made despite a pair of shutout losses on the first weekend of Southeastern Conference softball play.
Despite dropping 4-0 and 5-0 games to the eighth-ranked Kentucky Wildcats at home on Friday and Sunday, respectively, MSU was encouraged it could salvage a 2-1 Saturday victory against one of the best teams in the nation.

Thomas believes Bulldogs giving effort necessary

It just isn't good enough right now for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are in the midst of a 13-game losing streak, matching last year's total. They are one loss away from tying the school-record longest losing streak.

Mississippi State had another opportunity to get into the win column and end a double-digit losing streak.
The Bulldogs led South Carolina 47-39 with 14:18 left in the second half, but couldn't close it out.
The Gamecocks came storming back and beat the Bulldogs 74-62 Saturday afternoon inside Humphrey Coliseum.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs lost their 13th-straight game of the men's basketball season with Saturday's 74-62 loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks at Humphrey Coliseum. The Bulldogs fell short in their last six home games.

MSU's Seitz adjusts well to the game

Caroline Seitz has adjusted to major college softball just fine.
In her first season with the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Seitz has gotten off to a hot start at the plate.
Seitz led MSU in hitting with a .354 batting average and 23 hits going into this weekend's Southeastern Conference series with the eighth-ranked Kentucky Wildcats.

Lady Wolverines end day with two shutouts

MABEN - The East Webster Lady Wolverines capped a successful first day of the Fast Pitch Softball Classic in which they hosted with two impressive wins.
East Webster picked up a 14-0 victory in the first game against Noxapater.
"Both games were similar," Lady Wolverines coach Lee Berryhill said. "We did two things well. We pitched the ball well and hit the ball well."

SHS defeats defending champs

WINONA – The Starkville Yellowjackets continue their winning ways on the road Saturday with a 10-7 victory over defending Class 5A State champion Kossuth.
After a 2-1 victory over East Webster in 11 innings Friday night, the Jackets improve their record to 5-1.

Eupora beats Houlka in baseball

The game between Eupora and Houlka at the East Webster Classic shaped up to be an evenly-matched encounter.
Time just ran out on the Eagles to get a win.
With the game being called due to time limit, Houlka knocked off the Eupora 9-8.
Rusty Johnson providing a double to left field to start things for the Eagles, then Will Bowen reached first with a bunt.

Lady Eagles pick up pair of victories

MABEN – The softball record for the Eupora Lady Eagles jumped above the .500 mark in less than two hours of work.
With a pair of victories to open the East Webster Classic Tournament on Saturday, Eupora improved its overall mark to 3-2.
The Eagles started the day with a 5-4 victory over Houston and followed that up by beating Vardaman 7-1.
