SBA preps for another season

Almost 45 years ago the city of Starkville saw it could no longer finance baseball in the community. In response, a group of dads got together and out of their desire to continue baseball for the city’s youth the Starkville Baseball Association was born.
Today, the SBA is run by a group of 12 volunteer board members along with Randy Carlisle, who serves as president.

TANF drug testing law made official

A new Mississippi law will require all new Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) applicants to answer a questionnaire that could lead to drug testing in order to receive money from the program.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant signed House Bill 49, which lays the framework for the assistance program’s changes, into law Monday.
