MSU makes the trip to Alabama

The Mississippi State women's basketball team has not won two or more consecutive games in the Southeastern Conference this season.
If the Bulldogs can pull off a victory at Alabama tonight, they will own back-to-back conference triumphs for the first time since the league slate began.
MSU (17-9) has gotten into this position after upsetting No. 16 Vanderbilt 64-62 at home last Sunday.

MSU improves mark to 11-0

Sam Lenahan has been around Mississippi State softball for several seasons now.
She hasn't seen anything like what's been happening lately.
With Wednesday's 6-0 victory over the Central Arkansas Bears, the Bulldogs improved their record to 11-0. It ties the 2008 year for the second-best start in school history.

MBN makes cocaine bust

Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics Interim Director Samuel W. Owens announced Tuesday that agents arrested a Texas man in connection with the seizure of approximately $100,000-worth of cocaine.

Officers arrested 25-year-old Charles Anthony Skelly IV, of Houston, Texas, on suspicion of possession of one kilogram of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Rather speaks on history leadership

Dan Rather was happy to speak about leaders he had met, but he was modest about his own leadership wehn he spoke at Mississippi State University Tuesday night.

“I don’t consider myself a leader, and I don’t consider myself an expert on leadership,” Rather said.

Mississippi State is hoping a trio of losing streaks come to a halt late tonight.
The Bulldogs have lost a season-high seven-straight games, 15 in a row on the road dating back to last season and three-straight to LSU.

Starkville teams advance to region title games

MADISON – Starkville High School will be well-represented in Friday's Class 6A, Region 3 Tournament championship games as both the boys and girls won first round games on Tuesday.
The Lady Jackets defeated the Columbus Lady Falcons 58-55 in the first game, while the Jackets followed that up with a 66-58 decision over the Northwest Rankin Cougars.
