Eupora, East Webster girls look to advance further

Katie McDonald says her Eupora squad is not “ready to turn their jerseys in.”
The Lady Eagles will seek to extend the season tonight as they tip off against the Lady Royals of New Site as part of the Class 2A North Tournament hosted by Coahoma County.
Eupora advanced forward to tonight’s game after defeating J.Z. George Monday night in the first of these play in games.

Seniors Foster, May end regular season home dates at MSU

Mississippi State women's basketball coach Vic Schaefer said his program has been enriched by the presence of Cadance Foster and Kaita May.
The two seniors will play their final regular season home games tonight when the Bulldogs host the 12th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats.

Jackets are on a roll: SHS team set for state event

The Starkville Yellowjackets have completed their practice sessions at Bulldog Lanes for the Mississippi High School Activities Association State Bowling Tournament.
It's now time for SHS team to make the trip to Flowood and take part in another workout at Fannin Lanes, the site of Friday morning's competition. The team leaves Starkville today at 1:30 p.m.

Rowe improves with hard work

Bowling was a sport that Jessica Rowe really didn't want to try at first.
After some convincing from her best friend Skyler Runnels, Rowe decided to join the Starkville High School bowling team.
The situation has been a positive one for Rowe and the Yellowjackets as she has developed into one of the most consistent bowlers.

SPD restarts crime prevention program

Starkville Police Department is re-implementing an old program with the hopes of increasing community awareness that officers are out on patrol as well as officer-citizen interaction.

Assistant Police Chief John Thomas said the department has begun the Active Prevention Patrol by Law Enforcement (A.P.P.L.E.) program again after few years of hiatus.

Two men arrested in theft of several GPS dog collars

Starkville Police Department reported the arrests of two Starkville men due to an ongoing investigation into missing dog collars from a local dog supply provider.

According to an SPD release, Gun Dog Supply at 312 Industrial Park Road management reported on Jan. 17 that a large amount of GPS dog tracking collar systems and accessories were missing from inventory.

Coach John Cohen's Mississippi State Bulldogs needed a game like Tuesday night.
The No. 18 Bulldogs entered the week with a 4-4 record, but they sure didn't play like a squad that had such a mark.
MSU pounded out a season-high 13 hits in a 13-1 victory over Mount St. Mary's at Dudy Noble Field.
