Edward H. Whitehurst Sr. passed away on January 25, 2014 at his residence in Maben he was 67. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Maben and a Master Mason and Shriner. He was also a retired electrician with I B E W Electrical Union.

LOUISVILLE â€“ The Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers held off a furious comeback in the fourth period by Winston Patriots to win 47-44.
The Lady Volunteers started strong taking an early 18-11 advantage after the first period. The second period was more of a defensive game as both combined to only score 16 points. Starkville Academy took a 29-16 lead going into the half.
Moving up to a new classification brought some fears for the Lady Yellowjackets soccer team.
Starkville High School soccer player Noa Katherine Hardin could be labeled as an "Energizer Bunny" by some people, but her coached prefers to call her "firecracker."
Hardin has provided the Lady Yellowjackets an aggressive style of play for four years.

Visitation will be Friday, January 24, 2014 from 1-6:00 p.m. at West Memorial Chapel, Starkville, Mississippi.
Fay Walker Rone died at Oktibbeha County Hospital on January 23, 2014, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Rone was a long time resident of Starkville and a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church, where she will be deeply missed.
