Republican mayoral candidate Dan Moreland officially launched his campaign Thursday at Starkville Cafe.
Moreland, who originally filed his qualification papers Jan. 2, will challenge incumbent Democrat Parker Wiseman and Democrat Mary Lee Beal for the office. Primaries will be held May 7. The general election will be June 4.

The Mississippi State University “True Maroon” will be on display this weekend as the Office of Parent Services begins its inaugural Bulldog Family Weekend Friday.
Welcoming hundreds of families from across the country, Director of Parent Services Cat Walker said she is excited about the first edition of this family-oriented experience.

Representatives from the city of Sturgis and the Sturgis South Bike Rally Board confirmed Thursday that plans for a 2013 Sturgis motorcycle rally are canceled, ending negotiations between the city and motorcycle rally boards for the year.
