AJ Brown, Darius Grayer, Raphael Leonard and Fontavious Smith have given the Jackets threats in the passing game they have not seen for a while.

SHS loses home volleyball match in five sets to Hernando

It was a hard fought contest, but in the end, the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets saw their playoff dreams end as they fell to visiting Hernando in five sets.
"Hernando is a great team," Starkville coach Lauren Love said. "They are very scrappy and they play through the whistle. We had plenty of inconsistency with a number of unforced errors and you can't do that against a team like them."

Andrews, Richardson represent Lady Vols with MAIS All-Stars

It's not often that a coach gets to participate in an All-Star Game after only one season with a team.
For Starkville Academy soccer coach Cole Andrews, that's the case.
Andrews will coach the North All-Stars today in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools All-Star Game at Jackson Prep. The match starts at 4:30 p.m.

Chancellor visits Bulldogs practice

Van Chancellor is no stranger to basketball in the state of Mississippi.
The long-time women's basketball coach was in his hometown of Louisville on Tuesday and decided to give Mississippi Sate women's coach Vic Schaefer a call.
He wanted to swing by practice in Starkville and check out the Bulldogs.

OCSD recognizes student achievement

Oktibbeha County School District celebrated its students’ achievements at its first regular meeting since the Mississippi Department of Education released its 2012-13 school accountability results.

The entire district improved last year and raised its overall ranking from a D to a C.

Supervisors talk education, roads

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors discussed manufacturing training with East Mississippi Community College at their Monday meeting.

Raj Shaunak, vice president of Workforce and Community Services at East Mississippi Community College, appeared before the board to discuss the matter.
