Hall believes his Jaguars must be 'above average' to defeat Yellowjackets

Madison Central's Bobby Hall is a veteran coach and knows what to look for to have the best team possible.
Right now, he doesn't think the Jaguars are at that point.
Despite records of 5-2 overall and 3-0 in Class 6A, Region 2, Hall is concerned about the way his team plays at times.

Mullen somewhat happy with where MSU stands

Through the first six games of the season, Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen is somewhat happy with where his team is.
The Bulldogs are 3-3 overall and 0-2 in the Southeastern Conference. They are coming off a 21-20 win over Bowling Green on homecoming, and are not back on the gridiron until Thursday, Oct. 24, as Mullen calls this a "pseudo open date."

City OKs C Spire rezone

tarkville Board of Aldermen approved a rezoning measure for the C Spire Data Processing Center in the Thad Cochran Research, Technology and Economic Development Park at Tuesday’s meeting.

The rezoning measure paved the way to move forward with the $20 million data-processing center, which was announced earlier this month.

SPD arrests theft suspect

Starkville Police Department has arrested a suspect wanted in a recent robbery in a convenience store parking lot.

An SPD press release says Joe Mitchell Gillespie, 26, of Josey Avenue in Starkville, turned himself in to the department on Monday. Police had asked for community assistance while searching for Gillespie.

Chadwick Lake track celebrated

It was sunny and cool Tuesday morning when Mississippi State students, faculty and staff, and Starkville citizens came together to celebrate the official opening and ribbon-cutting for the one-mile walking track at Chadwick Lake.

Theatre MSU prepares to begin 50th season

Mackenzie Dunn reveals the culprit in Mississippi State University’s production of “Bloody Murder” before the first act is over.

Dunn, a freshman majoring in architecture at MSU, plays Lady Somerset, a dowager of the kind that commonly appears in British murder mysteries. The difference, she said, is that Somerset knows “Bloody Murder” is not the first murder mystery she has been in.

Museum's open house to honor hall of famers

Sunday will be a special time for the families of three local athletes who all consider Starkville their home and have gone on to become hall of famers in their respective professional sports.
The Oktibbeha County Heritage Museum plans to memorialize Bailey Howell, James Thomas "Cool Papa" Bell and Jerry Rice for their contributions on the national stage.

After hurting his knee and ankle on the first offensive play for SHS against Northwest Rankin, Horsley's availability for the next game against Greenville-Weston was in question.
