The Mississippi State baseball team experienced deja vu Thursday night.
For the second-straight Southeastern Conference ballgame, the Bulldogs found a way to come back after being down.
No. 23 (Collegiate Baseball) MSU scored four runs in the eighth inning to overcome a three-run deficit to beat No. 15 South Carolina at Dudy Noble Field.
Mississippi State head baseball coach John Cohen knows what it's like to be around one of the great closers in school history.
Pete Young, one of Cohen's teammates at MSU, was pretty good when he came into the game to close down a game from 1987-89.
With the help of back-to-back eight save seasons in 1988 and 1989, Young was able to save 19 games during his career with the Bulldogs.
RIDGELAND - Individual State championships were on the line this week for the Starkville High School tennis team.
Even though no individuals claimed a state title, Yellowjackets coach Rob Fyke is pleased with his team’s performance this week and throughout the whole season.

A manhunt for a robbery suspect in the Louisville Street area in Starkville locked down a school and placed entire neighborhoods on alert Thursday, but as of press time police had not arrested the suspect.

After a disappointing regular season where they finished with an 8-16 Southeastern Conference mark, which wasn't good enough to make the conference tournament, the Bulldogs welcome the opportunity the NCAA Tournament presents.

Otto Vance Wise, 93, passed away May 15 in Jackson, Mississippi after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents Eva Otto and James Giles Wise, his wife of 66 years, Mary Wilkinson Wise, and a brother, G.J. Wise. He was born in Hopevilla, Louisiana.
