Coming into unfamiliar territory is never easy, but one Starkville Academy Lady Volunteer did it with grace and ease.
Early in 2012, Maggie Proffitt approached coach Glenn Schmidt about playing for the Lady Vols. Knowing that bringing a new player into a team that had just won a state championship would be no easy task, Schmidt sought out her two seniors for their thoughts.

TUPELO – The Starkville Yellowjackets lost a pair of baseball games to wrap up spring break action on the road.

About 40 people came to MSU's Howell Observatory Friday night in search of the PANSTARRS comet as it made what scientists believe to be its first ever visit to the inner solar system, a visit not expected to recur for another 100,000 years.
