Maben woman arrested for assault

Police arrested a Maben woman on suspicion of aggravated assault after she reportedly attacked a man at a party.

According to Maben Police Officer Calvin Robinson, 29-year-old Lasahndra Watkins was hosting a party at her Maben residence on Oct. 20. At approcimately 2:45 a.m., Watkins reportedly got into an altercation with one of the guests.

Carlene Coleman Elrod, 87, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at her son's home in Florence, AL, after an extended illness.
Carlene was born November 29, 1925, Sturgis, Mississippi.

Jackets play for region title

There's a new banner hanging on the side of the Starkville High School field house with athletes from various sports that says "Fly fast. Sting hard."
That's exactly what the Yellowjackets plan to do on the football field tonight in Vicksburg.
Starkville can clinch the Class 6A, Region 2 championship with a win against the Warren Central Vikings.

“When you play somebody like this, right now where they stand, they are probably considered the best team in private school league – period, across all divisions,” Starkville Academy coach Jeff Terrill said. “Certainly it will be a real challenge for us so you just continue to focus on getting better at what you do.”

Just days before the Lady Yellowjackets begin their season, the program and Schaefer have found out that she was been chosen for The (Jackson) Clarion-Ledger Dandy Dozen team.
