Rose Woods Powers, 83, died November 7, 2013.Â Funeral services will be 2:30 todayÂ at First Baptist Church.Â Visitation will begin at 1 pm prior to the service at Southern Funeral Home in Lexington.Â Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Parents for Public Schools Starkville and the Greater Starkville Development Partnership hosted a Twitter town hall meeting Wednesday evening that saw more than 52 individual contributors participate in a conversation that could have reached more than 28,000 accounts.

Backstage Music will call on its patrons and others in Starkville for help on Nov. 16 in an effort to gather food for local food pantries.
Allen McBroom, a partner at Backstage Music, said the store would participate in Strings for Food, a nationwide effort on the part of independent music store owners to raise food for local pantries that are hit hard during the holiday season.
