SCOOBA â€“ Preston Baker is getting used to winning state football championships.
After Baker and his Starkville High School teammates won the Mississippi High School Activities Association Class 5A State title last year, Baker was getting his hands on more hardware Saturday.
WEST POINT â€“ The Starkville High School boys tipped off the basketball season on Saturday with a dominant 86-47 victory over New Hope in the West Point Classic.
â€śWhen we are playing like we played (Saturday) a lot of positives happen for us,â€ťÂ Yellowjackets coachÂ Greg Carter said. â€śWe got into them, really put a lot of pressure on them and kind of took them out of their offense.â€ť

The Eagles beat the Delta Academy Raiders 26-20 in overtime to advance in the MAISA Class A 8-man playoffs.
Hebron will travel to Rolling Fork next Friday night to take on the Sharkey- Issaquena Academy Confederates. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Mrs. Mamie Carroll Griffin, 83, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at N. MS Medical Center in Eupora.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora with burial in Spring Valley Cemetery in Mathiston.
Rev. Raliegh Richter will officiate. Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Charles (Chuck) D. Lewis, 54, passed away on November 8, 2013 at his residence in Starkville, MS.Â He was owner of Chuck's BP, which is a family business.Â He was also a member of Self Creek Baptist Church. He loved his family and being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Dean Lewis.
