Starkville developments earn statewide acclaim

The Home Builders Association of Mississippi named four Starkville developments winners of its eighteenth annual Best in Mississippi Awards in November, including three projects from Tabor Construction and Development and one project from Maison De Ville Association President John Hartlein of Jackson.

Sales tax revenue breaks record for 3rd straight month

Sales tax and 2 percent restaurant tax revenues remained largely steady in October 2012, but it was also the third consecutive month of record-breaking sales tax revenues, according to the city of Starkville’s tax revenue report.

Gandy: Recycling a ‘Catch-22’ with slim budget

As Starkville marks the third year of its recycling program, Sanitation and Environmental Services Director Emma Gandy said she is encouraged by the number of residents who are signed up for curbside pickup and hopes to see that number grow, but more participation means more money spent on carrying it away, which eats more and more of an already slim department budget.

MSU women struggle to score in 60-46 loss to South Carolina

The Mississippi State women's basketball team ranked last in the Southeastern Conference in scoring offense at 60.5 points going into Sunday's matchup against South Carolina.

The 46 points put up by the Bulldogs against the Gamecocks won't help that standing.

MSU lost a 60-46 decision at Humphrey Coliseum and fell to 0-2 in the league.

I didn’t go to a wild party on New Years Eve or ring in the new year with fireworks and champagne.

Nor was I able to stay up to see the ball drop on Times Square at midnight. Instead, I stayed home and dosed in and out of consciousness during a "Matlock" marathon.

Mississippi State University continues to make health a top priority for its students, faculty and staff as free health screenings begin Monday as a part its the MSU on the Move program.

The program is funded by a grant from the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation.
