Over 200 high school band students will have the opportunity to grow musically and scholastically this week as Mississippi State University hosts its 61st annual Honor Band Clinic Thursday through Saturday with public performances scheduled throughout the week.
Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Nale Parsons, 77, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at OCH Regional Medical Center in Starkville.Â
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Starkville with Rev. Giles Linley, Rev. Bob Whiteside and Rev. David Shoemaker officiating.
GREENVILLE â€” Mrs. Marian Jean Honnaker Gray, 85, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Starkville with Brother Danny Johnson officiating.
Boone Funeral Home of Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

Mississippi State University and University of Mississippi leaders announced plans Tuesday at the Institutions of Higher Learning Universities Center in Jackson to use a $12.9 million private gift to launch the Mississippi Excellence in Teaching (MET) program, aimed at attracting top students to middle and high school teaching careers.

JACKSON â€” Supporters and opponents demonstrated Tuesday outside Mississippiâ€™s only abortion clinic to mark 40 years since a U.S. Supreme Court ruling established a nationwide right to abortion.
Caroline Berryhill left quite the impression as the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets celebrated senior night with a first round playoff battle against the Lady Chargers of Oxford.
The SHS senior scored two goals, including the final score of the night, to push the Lady Jackets to a 4-0 victory.
After the game Berryhill expressed what it means to be nearing the close of her senior year.

As far as SA coach Robert Gardner is concerned, all someone has to do is look at Tuesday night's second half against East Rankin Academy.
The Volunteers were locked in a 1-1 battle at halftime, but scored three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half and went on to a 5-1 victory at the Starkville Sportsplex.
On Tuesday night, The Starkville High Yellowjackets were defeated by Columbus Falcons in overtime 70-62.
With the Jackets leading heading into the final moments, Jalen Stewart hit a last second shot to tie the game at 58 as time expired. Columbus would then take control of the extra period to come away with the win.
Caleb Wilson lead Starkville in scoring with 15 points.
