The Starkville Board of Aldermen authorized city staff to begin demolition and cleanup of five properties deemed to be a menace to the community’s public health and safety this week during its recess meeting.

Ricky Tate has retired from Mississippi State University, but that hasn’t stopped him from taking up a private plumbing business with his brother, Kevin Tate. The price of gasoline, however, is slowing him down.
“It’s hard to get people to put up extra money for gas,” Ricky said. “That often ends up coming out of our own pocket.”

MSU puts Alabama away in second half

The Mississippi State Bulldogs played well in the first half of Thursday's women's basketball game against Alabama.

As good as MSU looked in the first half and leading by 10 points at the break, head coach Vic Schaefer couldn't help but feel it could be even better.

Schaefer had that same feeling at Ole Miss two weeks ago.

The Mississippi State baseball team will meet a very familiar foe this weekend.

The No. 12 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs host the inaugural Diamond Classic presented by Polk's Meat Products this weekend and one of those opponents will be Samford, which ended MSU's season in 2012.
