Yellowjackets set to run at MSU

As the weather begins to heat up, the Starkville High’s track and field teams hope to do the same thing as the outdoor season continues.
Today the team gets that opportunity as it travels across town to compete in the Bulldog High School Invitational.

A committee the Starkville Board of Aldermen appointed to review proposals for constructing a parking garage linked to the Cooley Center Development selected recommended candidates for a construction manager and architecture firm to oversee that portion of the project Friday.

JACKSON — In the most obese state in the nation, Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant says he’ll sign a new law to prevent cities or counties from banning extra-large soft drinks or requiring restaurants to list calorie counts on menus.

Oktibbeha, state jobless rates up

According to statistics obtained from the Mississippi Department of Employment Security, Oktibbeha County’s unemployment rate was one-half percent up this past January from January 2012.

Public records Starkville Daily News obtained this week indicate that starting pay for Oktibbeha County sheriff’s deputies outpaces that of Starkville city police officers by an average range of between 89 cents and $1.68 per hour.

New season begins as MSU hosts LSU

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have seen a great deal of success in their non-conference portion of the baseball schedule, but will see the level of competition raised this weekend.
The No. 8 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs (18-2) welcome the No. 3 LSU Tigers (16-1) for a three-game Southeastern Conference series beginning today at Dudy Noble Field.

Starkville splits pair of games in Oxford

OXFORD - It was double the action once again for the Starkville High baseball team.
After playing a pair of games in Meridian on Tuesday, Starkville was at it again on Thursday in Oxford.
In the first game, the Jackets claimed a 3-2 victory against Lake Cormorant.
