Mississippi House representatives John L. Moore, Gary Chism and Toby Barker were named conferees Monday for a House/Senate education conference formed to work out differences in each branch’s version of an Oktibbeha County and Starkville city school administrative consolidation bill.

SHS, three other teams get caught up in the wind

The Starkville Yellowjackets had a good lesson about driving in the wind Monday afternoon.
It wasn't in an automobile during a driver's education class, but it was on the Mississippi State Golf Course during a four-team tournament.

House conferees named for school consolidation bill

State legislators John L. Moore, Gary Chism and Toby Barker have been named House conferees in a House/Senate education committee formed to come to an agreement on each branch's version of House Bill 716, which proposes consolidation of the Oktibbeha County and Starkville school districts.

In the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, legislators, media and the public at large are talking about arming teachers with guns. Downtown Martial Arts Academy (DMAA) owner Doug Bedsaul wants to arm them with knowledge.
