Auburn sweeps pair from State

March 29, 2013

Mississippi State was looking to avoid blowing two leads in one day. 

It didn't happen, as the Bulldogs blew a five-run lead to drop a 7-5 decision in the second game of a doubleheader to the Auburn Tigers Friday night in a Southeastern Conference matchup.

Ackerman building momentum lately

ACKERMAN – The Ackerman Lady Indians are starting to build some momentum on the softball field.
Ackerman softball coach Mike Brown had watched his team put together good efforts lately and the schedule hasn't done them any favors.

On Friday, the Lady Indians played a makeup game against Calhoun City and established a lead early in claiming a 10-4 victory at home.

Whippets get run game going to defeat Indians

ACKERMAN – The pressure from the Kosciusko Whippets eventually got to the Ackerman Indians on the baseball field Friday afternoon.

Ackerman controlled the Kosciusko running game well-enough for two innings to keep it from scoring, but the Whippets scored at least once in the final five frames to leave Choctaw County with an 8-4 win.

MSU shuffles pitching slots for weekend

Mississippi State baseball coach John Cohen has been looking for more consistency from his starting pitching.
This weekend he will shuffle things around and try to find the rotation that will give the Bulldogs a chance at winning a Southeastern Conference series.

Yellowjackets lose to Rockets at home

When Brian Jones left Neshoba Central to become the head coach at Starkville High School, he knew he was leaving behind a good team.
It was evident Thursday night as the Rockets beat the Yellowjackets 4-2 at Yellowjacket Stadium/Danny Carlisle Field.

East Webster opens division slate with a victory

MATHISTON – Today might be what is called Good Friday, but Thursday evening was pretty good for the East Webster Lady Wolverines on the softball field.
In the opening game of Class 2A, Region 3, District 4 play, the team defeated the Lady Lions of Hamilton 5-2.

Groups oppose bill to arm Miss. teachers
