Aldermen OK rezone for corporate housing

The Starkville Board of Aldermen approved a rezoning request for a corporate housing complex at the Thad Cochran Research Park at its recess meeting Friday after extensive discussion of conditions, ultimately limiting the land use to multi-family residential use.

Bulldogs Banks, Slay hear names called at NFL Draft

After not seeing any players drafted on the first day, Mississippi State saw a pair of players hear their names called on day two of the National Football League draft.
Former Bulldog cornerbacks Johnthan Banks and Darius Slay were selected in the second round of the draft on Friday night.

Jackets sting Rams to gain baseball series lead

The Starkville Yellowjackets didn't waste any time executing the plan the coach had set out for them in the first round Class 5A playoff series against Provine Friday night.
Starkville coach Brian Jones said prior to the matchup that he wanted his club to have some timely hits, execute on offense, move baserunner, make all the routine plays and throws strikes on the mound.

Eupora begins Class 2A baseball playoffs with victory

EUPORA – The Eupora Eagles are one step closer to advancing in the Class 2A playoffs.
On Friday, the step was a big one as the team battled its way to a 9-3 victory over the Lake Hornets.

Breaks don't go way of softball Bulldogs in home loss

Vann Stuedeman was hoping and praying her team was going to catch a break.
Unfortunately for the Mississippi State head coach, her prayers went unanswered.
The Bulldogs dropped an 8-3 decision to the South Carolina Gamecocks Friday night in the first game of a three-game Southeastern Conference series.

Gibbs-Turner Economic Development Act passes into law

House Bill One, which has been named the Gibbs-Turner Economic Development Act has passed both houses in the legislature, and it is now law.
Angela Turner spoke to the Senate body before the vote today, endorsing the bill.
"As you know, Clay County has taken a hit," Turner said. "We are excited about the project coming to town."
Turner says that this has been a team effort.

Sources with knowledge of a proposed industrial project in West Point have confirmed that Yokohama Rubber Company, a tire manufacturer from Japan, has chosen Clay County as a project site.
This morning, state legislators are filing into the Capitol Building in Jackson to vote on an incentives package so that the project may move forward.
