Maben — John David Aldridge, Jr. 83, of Maben, MS passed away on November 27, 2013 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Born in Greenwood, MS he was a retired construction contractor and a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Emil William “Butch” Holiner

Emil William “Butch” Holiner, 65, passed away unexpectedly on November 27, 2013, at his childhood home in Starkville, Mississippi.  He had returned to celebrate Thanksgiving with family.

In the first real challenge of the season, men's basketball coach Rick Ray's Mississippi State Bulldogs didn't rise to the occasion.
The Bulldogs played on the road at Utah State and dropped an 87-68 decision to the Aggies in the first true road game of the season.
MSU gets another opportunity to play another quality opponent today.

Dillingham's effort sparks MSU women

Dominique Dillingham was giving so much effort in the first half of Wednesday night's game for the Mississippi State women's basketball team that her headband came flying off.
Dillingham played well enough for the Bulldogs that she put up a career-high 19 points during a 78-51 victory over the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns at Humphrey Coliseum.

Hosket family enjoys time at French Camp

Bruce Hosket has enjoyed a front row seat in watching his sons Ben and Jesse play for state football championships.
As the offensive coordinator for the French Camp Academy Panthers, Bruce is pleased to have had a dual role as a father and coach for Ben and Jesse.

Seminoles seek to grind it out against Panthers in Jackson

Bubba Tacker has been coaching for 15 years and each one of those years has been with the Smithville Seminoles. It has also been 15 years since Smithville last competed for a state championship.
Tacker and his team are back in Jackson this season and ready to represent the small town that supports them each step of the way.

For SHS track coach Steve Griffin, he wants to see how far his young Yellowjackets have come.

Lady Volunteers bounce back well

After losing to Madison Ridgeland Academy the previous night, Starkville Academy coach Glenn Schmidt was anxious to see how her team would bounce back.
On Tuesday evening, the Lady Volunteers did not just bounce back, but they came back with a vengeance defeating Heritage Academy 61-38.

Teamwork propels SCS boys to victory

There is no I in team and the Starkville Christian School Cougars were an example of that Tuesday night.
Starkville Christian had 10 players get into the scoring column as it defeated the Central Academy Vikings 67-41 at the Cougar Cave.
