Pirtle keeps finding base for Bulldogs

OMAHA, Neb. – Brett Pirtle somehow finds a way to reach base safely in just about every Mississippi State game.
The junior second baseman reached on a fielder's choice in the first inning in a 5-4 Bulldog victory over Indiana Monday night at the TD Ameritrade in the College World Series.
With the fielder's choice, the Tyler, Texas native has reached base safely in his last 41 games.

Hardy Tingle

June 18, 2013

Hardy Tingle passed away Friday, June 14, 2013, at Shands Hospital University of Florida after a long struggle with heart failure. He was born in Quitman, Mississippi November 25, 1946. He was preceded in death by his father, Fletcher W. Tingle.

Kim O'Brian Pettit

June 18, 2013

Kim O'Brian Pettit, 72, passed away on June 15, 2013 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.  She was a retired hairdresser and owner of the Hair Pen Salon in Maben. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Seisen Kinjo and Uta Watanabe; and first husband, Bud O'Brian. 

Alexander looks to answer SA's questions in summer

Coach Mark Alexander knows there are some major holes to fill, but his Volunteers are using the summer to try and find answers before they take the court in the fall.

SHS hosts 7-on-7 action once again

The high school football programs of Starkville, West Point, Columbus, Noxubee County and West Lowndes want to take advantage of every opportunity to improve and be successful.
This is the third year for Starkville 7-on-7 Football League and it's a tool to help the teams participating meet its goals for the fall.

If there’s one thing 38-year-old LaToya Weaver has learned in the last eight years, it’s that patience and determination can open virtually any door. By the end of December, Weaver will realize her lifelong dream: graduating from Mississippi State University with an interdisciplinary studies degree that will allow her to coach basketball.

OMAHA, Neb. – Mississippi State has proven all postseason they can get into the winner's bracket and stay there.
Today the No. 7 (Collegiate Baseball) Bulldogs will try to do the same thing they did in the Southeastern Conference Tournament and the Starkville Regional.

The College World Series format sets up perfectly for Mississippi State.
After beating Oregon State 5-4 on Saturday, the Bulldogs don't play again until today against Indiana a 7 p.m. 
The fact that MSU will play ever other day, really helps its cause.

SSA Bulldogs 8-Under White team claims soccer silver medal at State Games

The Starkville Soccer Association 8-Under team showed some resiliency on Sunday.
After losing their first match in pool play at the State Games of Mississippi on Saturday, the Bulldogs White team bounced back to gain the silver medal on Sunday.
