The Starkville School District Board of Education addressed a few items during its monthly meeting on Tuesday, including a unique process the district is engaging in to prepare a calendar for the 2014-15 school year.

It was a rocky beginning for the Starkville Yellowjackets, but the situation got much smoother as Tuesday's basketball game went along.
In the end, the Jackets defeated the Grenada Chargers 72-56.

It's a credit to coach Kristie Williams and her staff to keep the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets focused after a rough start to the season.
After losing back-to-back games to New Hope and Meridian to start the season, it would have been very easy for the Lady Jackets to have gotten down on themselves early.

Lady Volunteers take road victory

GREENVILLE – The Starkville Academy Academy Lady Volunteers are starting to mimic the way they have played the last couple of seasons.
The Lady Volunteers downed Washington School 46-31 Tuesday night on the road to improve to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in district play.
Sallie Kate Richardson led SA with a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Nora Kathryn Carroll added 11 points.

MSU has productive fall workouts

Mississippi State lost a good many pieces from last season's College World Series team.
Outfielder and big stick Hunter Renfroe has since moved on to professional baseball. Shortstop Adam Frazier and arms Chad Girodo and Kendall Graveman are also giving it a shot at professional baseball.

Nusz family gives $12M to MSU

Mississippi State University announced Monday that alumni Tommy and Terri Nusz have donated $12.3 million for the university to bolster its efforts in engineering, sports, teacher education, veteran resources, equine health and other causes close to the Nusz family’s hearts.
