Redbirds beat Freaks to make Class A semis

The Mississippi Redbirds and Mississippi Bashers continued to remain alive in the championship bracket of Class A through the afternoon hours on Saturday during the United States Specialty Sports Association 11-Under State Tournament.
The Bashers out-scored the PSA Blacksox 12-8 early on Saturday, while the Redbirds took care of business to defeat the Diamond Freaks 13-7.

Sturgis steadily becomes state karting hotspot

Chris Reed wanted to pass on the thrill of the race to his son, Hunter Reed.
Chris said he spent more than 10 years racing stock cars, and he was one of several in the Starkville area who approached their children about kart racing, developing a few backyard tracks for practice.

MABEN – Young and old fans alike were present at W.O. Shivers Park in Maben on Saturday to honor one of their own.
Former Mississippi State and East Webster High School football player Johnthan Banks was recognized with a special day all his own "Johnthan Banks Day."

Bashers out-slug Majors

The Mississippi Bashers closed out Class A pool play of the United States Speciality Sports Association 11-Under State Tournament with a come-from-behind victory.
After taking a 9-2 lead with six runs in the second inning, the Bashers saw the Majors rally for nine runs in the third inning to gain a 11-9 advantage.

Mississippi State University is one step closer to adding two new sorority houses to its campus after the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning Board of Trustees approved exterior designs for the houses at its meeting Thursday in Jackson.
